Make-Up Review: Nars & Beauty Blender

This post could basically be explained by my obsession with the Kardashians. Yes, I admit, they are a guilty pleasure indulgence for me, but c'mon, their hair, clothes, make-up are a fashionista fantasy! And whether you love 'em or hate 'em they have an amazing team that helps them look like the caricatures they are.

Now typically I am a MAC girl, but I ran out of my liquid eyeliner and was in the mood to try something different. I used the Nars stylus eyeliner this weekend and found it really easy to use and it went on with was and did NOT smudge at all!

I also used the beauty blender for the first time this weekend with MAC liquid foundation and found that, just like the ladies over at The Sorority Secrets said, it was amazing! Super duper light and it felt much more gentle than a typical brush. I am HOOKED!

Lastly, I tried the light reflecting setting powder and to be honest, I didn't really notice a difference, then again it wasn't too hot this past weekend so I wasn't shiny. This might be a product I really utilize during the summer, foundation free, months.

Wednesday Wrap-Up: Instagram

As I trouble shoot with my new camera, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite selfie posts from instagram. Nothing wrong with the occasional selfie, as long as "duck lips" don't appear. Be sure to follow me on Instagram @kfbarrett

Birthday Recap: Accessories

For those of you who don't know, I have a confession to make, I have an unhealthy obsession with BCBGMAXAZARIA, and whenever I have a major event I head straight to BCBG to find an outfit. But as we all now the finishing touches to an outfit are the accessories!

For my birthday this past weekend, I had a sexy LBD with a cut out back and the next step was an age old debate: SILVER or GOLD?

I came up with the following 2 looks and ended up going with silver, as the new silver jewelry I purchased was really unique and perfect for the b-day.

All gold jewelry is from past bcbg seasons

Which look would you have gone with? And don't forget if it's your birthday month you get an extra 20% off all regularly priced items at BCBG!

Inspired By...

One thing that really adds personality and style to any outfit is jewelry. One of my favorite trends in the past year or so, was statement necklaces. The approach I always like to take to this is whether or not it is TRENDY. You can easily blow throw a ton of money on trendy necklaces that will be "out" by next year. So I was looking through Melissa of Style Society's instagram and noticed she hunts on Ebay for Inspired by jewelry designs. Well after spending about 20 minutes on there I was hooked! I bought a chunky choker necklace like the one Kim K is sporting for only $20 and 2 JCrew inspired bauble necklaces for $24 TOTAL!

Honestly, my major words of advice when splurging on a $150+ item of jewelry "Will I want to wear this next year?" If the answer is yes, spend away, but remember unless you're Elizabeth Taylor, you can't just wear jewelry, so save some of that dough for some clothes!

Spring is in the Air

As MORE snow falls here in Boston, I can't help but think about 50, even 60 degree temperatures and Spring fashions! This season I am focusing on adding a few pops of color and some sexy silk camis to wear under some of my favorite blazers and leather jackets. With New England weather, I never know what the week will bring, so having easy, fashionable tops that I can layer, help me keep up with whatever is thrown my way. What are some of your transition tips for the changing seasons?
